Pokemon Go API – Available Nesting Pokemon Changed

This post talks about the most recent nesting Pokemon Changes and the changes that have been made to pogoapi.net.

What has changed with the nests?

Nests are large areas of open ground, typically in parks, where specific Pokemon can be found for a two week period. During this period there will be large numbers of the nesting Pokemon regularly spawning.

Since the most recent Gen 1 event Pokemon Go have updated the available nesting pokemon. This means that now there are a few new Pokemon that can nest. In addition, a number of old nesting Pokemon will no longer nest.

The full list of 20 Pokemon that have been removed:

Aron, Barboach, Gulpin, Hoothoot, Hoppip, Houndour, Ledyba, Marill, Natu, Remoraid, Sentret, Slugma, Spheal, Spinarak, Sunkern, Taillow, Whismur, Wooper, Wurmple, Zigzagoon

The full list of 10 newly nesting Pokemon:

Anorith, Lileep, Mantine, Minun, Phanpy, Plusle, Sableye, Skarmory, Stantler, Sudowoodo

This change triggered a forced migration on the 13th/14th of September and changed a number of nests causing an investigation to begin in this subject. After much information gathering, this list of changes was generated. As usual, these are not announced by Niantic so the Silph Road works on working out the changes.

The information has been collected from the recent Silph Road Reddit post.

How the API Changes for this

The Nesting Pokemon API has been updated to reflect the change in Pokemon nesting. If you are pulling the JSON and using it please update your copy.

Any API calls to the website now will load the new data and therefore no changes need to be made.

The full documentation is available on PoGoAPI.net and the Does it Nest? functionality has been updated to reflect the new nesting species.
